An independent local charity for local pets, and their owners.
RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch is an independent local charity that was founded in 1964 to care for local pets.
RSPCA vs RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch, what’s the difference?
It is not widely known that RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch is a seperate charity from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – better known as the RSPCA.
As a branch we operate across a defined geographical area – roughly aligned to the county of Northamptonshire – and provide support to local pets, and their owners whereas the national RSPCA operates across England and Wales.
The relationship between our branch and the national RSPCA is similar to that of a franchised business such as McDonalds – in exchange for being able to use the RSPCA brand and having access to their expert knowledge, we must abide by certain rules and conditions.
National RSPCA
- Operates across the whole of England and Wales.
- Support a vast range of animals including horses and wildlife.
RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch
- Operates across the county of Northamptonshire*
- Offer specialised support to dogs, cats, rabbits and small domestic pets such as guinea pigs.
* Due to strict RSPCA boundaries, some areas of Northamptonshire fall into the territory of our neighbouring branches.
Our branch team will be happy to advise.
