Advice and Welfare

Supporting aspiring, new and experienced pet owners at every stage of their pet ownership journey.

As one of the leading local animal welfare charities, RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch offers advice and support to pet owners across the county to help equip them with the resources and knowledge they need to care for their pets.

We also work collaboratively with partners across Northamptonshire and beyond to inspire and educate people, young and old alike, about a wide range of animal welfare issues to help create a better world for all animals.

How we can help

Welfare Clinics

Our Welfare Clinics, run by our Registered Veterinary Nurses, help to bridge the gap between pet owners and professional Veterinary advice.

Through these clinics we are able to:

  • Nail Clipping
  • Weight Check
  • Pre-adoption Support

Please note, due to regulations, we are unable to formally diagnose or issue prescriptions through our Welfare Clinics.

Financial Support

We are able to provide financial contributions towards the cost of both Neutering and Veterinary Consultations.

These schemes are subject to a means tested eligibility criteria.

For further information, please contact the branch.

Pet Foodbank

At our Community Welfare Hubs we offer a selection of pet food and other supplies.

These are intended to support those who are facing short-term hardship.

No booking required however, we are unable to guarantee the selection available.

For more information, please call.

For Animal Welfare Professionals

Animal welfare and the challenges faced by animals across Northamptonshire cannot be tackled by one organisation on its own – and that is why we are keen to work collaboratively with industry stakeholders from across the county.

Recently this included facilitating meetings and roundtable discussions between local animal rescues, Council workers, the Police and Social Housing providers to discuss the realities of the XL Bulldog ban.

If you’d like to find out more about our partnership work, please contact Dawn Smith (Welfare Operations Manager) via email to [email protected].

We also take our position as a local leader in the animal welfare field very seriously, and use our platform to maintain a productive dialogue with local leaders such as Members of Parliament and Unitary Councillors.

If you are a local representative who is keen to discuss our work send us an email directed for the attention of our Chief Executive.
